On the brisk morning of September 3rd, we strolled around the Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence, Italy watching the sun rise as we waited for our incredible photographer Rita to arrive. Knowing my love for documenting our travels and memories, Matt booked a booked a photographer to capture our time in Florence. As we waltzed around the duomo, we were given the opportunity to experience the quiet mornings of Florence only experienced by the shop owners preparing for the day. After a few minutes of loving conversing, he bends down on one knee, begins to speak as he stifles back tears and asks the question I have been waiting to hear – “Will you Marry Me?”. Caught by surprise, my emotions overwhelm me. Thinking of the past 8 years of adventures and memories together, I can’t say anything but “Absolutely, YES! I Love you!”. Trying to keep back tears, he gently slides the ring on to my finger as it shimmers in the morning sunlight. There stood two people who would have never imagined an invitation to the prom nearly nine years before would lead to a lifetime of love and adventure.
Alas, as we meander through the historic streets and bridges, our story is now one of many forged in this eternal city. When not exploring Firenze, we can cherish the memories of our Italian engagement through the beautiful photos thanks to our incredible photographer, Rita.
